At the ripe age of four an elderly neighbor sat down with Diana on his front porch and taught her the harmony to “You Are My Sunshine”. She’s been singing every since then in school, in church and in several small bands.
Diana started writing her own songs when she was fifteen. At sixteen she sang one of her original songs on stage for the first time at the Tulsa State Fair live on local TV. She said, “It was very exciting moment.” From this performance she was offered a mini tour through Detroit, Chicago then to New York City but her Mom advised her to finish school first. Shortly after school she got married and started raising her family.
During the early eighty’s Diana was living in North Hollywood and got back into singing working in a recording studio doing “demo” work for a production company. She indicated she met a few interesting and wonderful musicians in California like Weird Al but her favorite meeting was with the legendary Smokey Robinson. Diana said, “Smokey Robinson is just as sweet and intelligent a gentlemen as you could ever meet.” His advise, “Keep doing what you love”
A few years later, Diana moved back to Arkansas and quickly got back into the local music scene by joining a local band and has played in several over the years including the Bonedaddy’s with former FOS guitarist Robin Linn.
Diana said, “The FOS Project Band has been exciting for me. I’m back to a more structured music environment and I’m working with experienced musicians who really enjoy what they’re doing. Music was and is my first love, so yes Smokey, I’m going to keep doing what I Love.”
