"Downtown" Sarah Brown is a native of Joplin, MO.  She started singing as soon as she could talk, and hasn't stopped since then.  At age five, she begged her parents until they bought her a piano and piano lessons.  Even at a young age, she had a singular goal of being a church pianist.  She developed her love of music in church, learning to sing harmonies, write gospel music and play gospel piano. After years of piano lessons she also took up the saxaphone and guitar, but singing remained her passion.  She began classical voice training at age fourteen and used that training to develop her knowledge of theory and technical singing. She first broke into professional music in college, when she toured breifly with a southern gospel group.  After college, she began to develop her songwriting talents and has written over fifty original songs.  She began singing professionally again in 2006 and has sang, played, recorded, and sat in with several different bands of all different genres..  Sarah is equally at home singing classical, country, rock, R&B, gospel, blues, or jazz, but soulful R&B music is her true love.
